Big Ed is a set of several separate Eduard detail sets brought together in one box for a particular F-4E Phantom II kit in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft model but a set of accessories. It usually takes in color photo-etched parts for the interior and the ejection seats, photo-etched parts for the exterior (for example details of the nozzles or elements for the intakes) and a self-adhesive masking film for the glazing and the wheels.
The McDonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II was an American two-seat supersonic multirole fighter. The E version brought an internal cannon in the nose and further changes to the avionics and the airframe. The Phantom became one of the most widespread combat fighters of its era and served with a number of air forces around the world.
The color photo-etched interior parts can be glued straight on; bend the other photo-etched elements carefully on a firm surface. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Apply the masks before spraying the glazing and the wheels for sharp transitions with no paint seeping under.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
