Resin exhaust nozzles for the F/A-18A Hornet in the closed position in 1:48 scale from Aires. A detail accessory for a kit, not an airplane model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a resin detail set, not an airplane model. The set replaces the final exhaust nozzles of both engines of a plastic kit of the carrier-based F/A-18A Hornet fighter with faithfully cast parts with the nozzle petals in the drawn-in (closed) position, the one that matches a machine on the ground with the engines running or shut down. The execution captures the correct inner geometry and the division of the nozzle, which a plastic part usually simplifies.
The F/A-18 Hornet is an American twin-engine carrier-based multirole fighter operated from aircraft carriers. Its movable exhaust nozzles change their cross-section according to the engine setting; in the drawn-in position the petals are closed up. Seen from the rear of the aircraft the nozzles are a striking element where the depth and the structure of the interior stand out.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts and cut off the casting blocks. Bond resin with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and sand with respiratory protection. Paint and weather the inside of the nozzles (metal shades, heat discoloration) before the final assembly. Take care to seat both nozzles in line with the rear of the fuselage.
An accessory for a plastic kit. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
