An injection-molded plastic kit of the British aircraft Fairey Firefly in the AS Mk.7 version in 1:48 scale from Special Hobby. The box holds several sprues of gray plastic, clear parts, an optional vacuum-formed bulged canopy for the operator and resin accessories for the landing gear bays, the exhausts and the intakes. The decals offer postwar schemes of the Royal Navy. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Firefly AS Mk.7 was the anti-submarine version of the postwar carrier aircraft, with an extended rear cockpit for the crew operating the radar and the detection equipment. In service it was soon replaced by Avenger aircraft and later by the Gannet. It was a two-seat machine with a characteristic cockpit arrangement.
It is a short-run kit suited to more experienced modelers. Wash the resin parts, cut off the casting blocks and bond them with super glue. Cut out the vacuum-formed canopy carefully with a sharp knife. Postwar naval camouflage schemes will stand out when sprayed with an airbrush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
