This is a sheet of waterslide decals in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Eduard, aimed exclusively at the national insignia of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-2 fighter. It is not a kit and not a complete decal sheet with personal markings and lettering: its content is the national insignia applied to the wing and the fuselage. The set suits cases where the decals from the base kit are not sharp enough, have thick carrier film or have become unusable after years of storage.
The Fw 190A-2 was an early production variant of the single-engine Focke-Wulf fighter with a BMW 801 radial engine and a wide-track landing gear that eased operation from field strips. Structurally it was an all-metal low-wing monoplane with a good view from the cockpit. The early versions of the A series differ from the later ones in details of the cowling, the armament and the layout of the maintenance covers, and the size and placement of the national insignia on the surface match that.
The surface under the decals has to be gloss. On matte paint, air is closed in under the film and silvering appears, which can no longer be put right. Cut the decals out as close as possible, so that the edge of the carrier film is not visible. After wetting, let the piece stand on paper until the film releases freely, and only then move it onto the model. On insignia that run across panel lines or over the curve of a leading edge, a decal softener helps; it is applied with a brush from above and the decal is then not moved again. Once it has dried, spray the model with clear in the degree of sheen you want.
The decals are supplied on their own. The model, paints, clear coats and decal softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
