A self-adhesive masking set from the QMT brand in 1:48 scale. It is an accessory for painting, not a model: die-cut shapes that close off the area of the wheel bays during spraying. According to the name it aims at the later fighter versions of the Fw 190A series and at the Fw 190F-8 attack version.
With wheel bay masks it is almost never the shape itself that fails but the edge. The paint creeps under the edge where the mask has not seated, most often because of grease from fingers, dust from sanding, or because the edge was merely run over with a finger after it was applied. So before masking, wash the surface with lukewarm water and a drop of dish soap and let it dry completely; touch the model only through a glove or with tweezers.
Lower the pressure in the airbrush compared with ordinary coverage and hold the nozzle farther from the edge. Lead the paint away from the mask where you can, not against its edge — a stream that presses perpendicular onto the edge from above lifts it far more readily than one led parallel to it. Let the first coat be only a light mist: it closes the microscopic gaps under the edge and the next, fuller coat then has no way to creep under.
The package contains masks only. The model, the paints and the glue are not in it.
