Masking film for the Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-8 in 1:48 scale. The cockpit cover from both faces and two sets for the national insignia.
Responsibility details are not available.
The A-8 version was the most numerously built form of the Focke-Wulf with the BMW 801 radial engine. It came about at a time when the main task ceased to be superiority over the front and became defense against formations of four-engine bombers. Hence the heavier cannon armament and the armored versions for attacks at close range. The domed canopy with short frames and armored front glass is typical of the model and is masked differently from the flat greenhouses of the Japanese types.
Taking a mask off before the paint has properly dried almost always ends the same way: the edge spreads sideways and a blurred trace is left on the glass that no further spraying will put right. Acrylic paints look dry after a few tens of minutes, but they take a day to reach full hardness. Let the model settle, then, and only after that reach for the films. Haste pays off no better here than it does in bodywork paint.
A blurred rim is removed by the wet route. Soak a piece of the finest abrasive paper and, very gently, with no more than the weight of your hand, level the trace flat; then polish the area with plastic polishing paste until transparency returns to the glass. The frame is then masked again and sprayed anew, this time with an honest pause.
The box holds two films for the glazing, outer and inner, complemented by two sets of masks for the national insignia. The set serves for building a plastic model in 1:48 scale, which is bought separately.
