An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Focke-Wulf Fw 190 D-9 fighter in 1:48 scale from Tamiya. The D-9 version, nicknamed the Dora, differs from the earlier Fw 190s in its lengthened nose and rear fuselage, needed for the liquid-cooled inverted V12 engine. The model offers a detailed cockpit, optional open or closed cowl flaps, two types of canopy and a rotating propeller; the box also holds a pilot figure and several marking options. Check the exact contents against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 was one of the most important German fighters of the Second World War. While most versions had a radial engine, the D-9 version received a liquid-cooled inverted V12, which improved performance at higher altitudes. The Dora was introduced from the autumn of 1944 and was among the highest-performing production Fw 190s of the closing stage of the war.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with liquid modeling cement for plastic. Paint and highlight the detailed cockpit before you close the fuselage, and mask the clear canopy during spraying. Apply a primer and the paints with an airbrush and apply the decals over a gloss coat. Late machines often carried mottled camouflage and hastily applied markings — bring out the panel lines with a wash and add a suitable amount of late war wear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
