A turned barrel for the German 50 mm KwK 39/1 L/60 gun in 1:48 scale from Aber. Intended for models of the Sd.Kfz. 234/2 Puma heavy armored car.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a turned metal barrel in 1:48 scale from the Polish maker Aber. It replaces the plastic barrel of the German 50 mm KwK 39/1 gun, 60 calibers long, on models of the Sd.Kfz. 234/2 Puma heavy armored car. It is not a model of the vehicle but a detail accessory.
The Sd.Kfz. 234/2 Puma was an eight-wheeled reconnaissance armored car with a closed rotating turret. Its armament was the 50 mm KwK 39/1 gun, 60 calibers long, that is a weapon derived from the main armament of the later versions of the Panzer III tank. The real barrel ended in a muzzle brake and against the small vehicle it looks very long indeed.
Cut the plastic barrel off at the mantlet, level the pin and check dry that the metal part sits on the axis of the turret. Degrease the metal, roughen it slightly and glue it with cyanoacrylate glue. Lay down a base coat for metals before painting. A long thin barrel often sags in plastic, whereas a metal one stays straight even after painting and handling. Once painted, pick out the hollow muzzle and the muzzle brake in a dark shade, or else with a gentle sooting of pigment.
This is a detail set, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
