A life vest belonged to the gear of pilots who flew over the sea, and it was worn over the flight overalls together with the parachute harness. On a model it stands out twice over: in shape, because it visibly broadens the figure at the chest, and in color, because its shade differs from the rest of the gear. The figure captures a pilot in exactly this form.
An aircraft model without a human figure beside it hardly conveys how big the machine actually was. A figure in 1:48 scale supplies that information at first glance and at the same time adds action to the scene, even if it is only a display aircraft with one man at the wing. It comes into its own on a stand-alone model as well as in a diorama.
Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and carefully sand the remainder. Wash and degrease the figure before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold on it and will rub off during handling. Choose a suitable glue according to the material of the parts and according to the manufacturer's instructions; cement for polystyrene as a rule has no effect on the parts of accessory sets. Paint in thin coats and start with the areas that will be hard to reach later. Leave the face for last and work on it in good light, because it is precisely the face that decides how the figure finally comes across. The fabric of the overalls tends to be more matte than the leather parts of the gear, and it pays to use that to set the materials apart.
The aircraft model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise. The manufacturer states the exact composition of the set and the number of parts in the instructions.
