This injection-molded plastic kit from the Japanese brand Tamiya represents the German command car Steyr Type 1500A/01 in 1:48 scale. The model captures the characteristic shape of the hood and the rear load area exactly. A die-cast chassis, which gives the model a pleasant weight and stability, is usually included, along with extra equipment such as jerrycans and pennants.
The Steyr 1500A was an Austrian general-purpose cross-country car that served the Wehrmacht on every front from 1941. The 1500A/01 version was the command and transport form - it carried up to eight people. The Steyr 1500 cars were among the durable and versatile types, and more than twelve thousand of them were built in all. They were used from the Eastern Front to North Africa.
Glue the plastic parts with thin modeling cement for plastic. A primer and spraying with an airbrush are recommended. The car looks best with the correct German camouflage (dunkelgelb and the additional shades according to the period). The opening doors and the folding canvas let you show the interior. Weathering with mud and dust using washes and pigments gives the car an authentic look from the front.
