1:48 Gloster Meteor NF.14 BASIC kabuki masks is a set of self-adhesive kabuki paper masks for covering the glazing of a model of the two-seat Meteor NF.14 night fighter. It is not a kit nor a decal sheet but an accessory for a model you already have.

The set contains pre-cut self-adhesive masks of kabuki paper, that is of thin Japanese tape with a mildly tacky adhesive. It follows rounded surfaces well and when it is lifted it usually leaves no adhesive residue behind. The masks are intended for the glazing of a model of the Gloster Meteor NF.14 night fighter in 1:48 scale. The designation BASIC places the set in the entry level of the manufacturer's range of masks, and the exact scope of the sheet cannot be deduced from the name and it is not stated here.
The Meteor was the first British jet aircraft taken into regular service and in the postwar years a whole family of versions grew from it. The night fighter configuration had a crew of two, a lengthened nose with radar and a longer wing. The NF.14 was the last of this line and it is told apart from the older night versions above all by a one-piece clear sliding canopy instead of the earlier densely framed one. Separate the individual pieces from the sheet with a sharp scalpel or tweezers and lay them down dry, without stretching them. Once they are stuck down, run a blunt tool, a toothpick for instance, along the edge so that the mask seats even in a curve, because an unsealed edge is the most common cause of paint seeping under a mask. First spray the glazing with the interior shade and only then with the base color and the camouflage, so that no light rim arises on the frame. Lift the mask soon after the varnish has dried and with a pull at an angle toward yourself, not at right angles upwards.
