This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:144 scale from Trumpeter captures the Soviet aerial tanker Il-78 with the NATO reporting name Midas. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, with finely engraved panel lines and waterslide decals. The large four-engined aircraft looks imposing in the display case.
The Il-78 is an aerial tanker derived from the Il-76 transport. It serves to refuel aircraft in flight and is equipped with refueling pods under the wings and on the fuselage. It was powered by four jet engines and the machine became the backbone of the refueling capability of the Soviet and later the Russian Air Force.
Join the large fuselage and wings with thin cement for plastic and fill the seams carefully. Spray the metal or gray scheme with an airbrush, pick out the panels with a wash and apply the decals over a gloss base. Because of its size it pays to build the model in subassemblies.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
