The SX-Art stencils are intended for spraying the camouflage pattern onto a model of the He 111Z-1 in 1:48 scale. They are not masks for the glazing but self-adhesive stencils that define the areas of the individual shades on the surface of the model. The set thus deals with painting the airframe, not with covering the cockpit. The set is prepared for the ICM kit.
The He 111Z-1 Zwilling came about by joining two He 111 airframes with a new center wing section carrying a fifth engine. It served as a tug for heavy gliders. From a modeling point of view what matters is that this is a large, long and asymmetrically divided airframe: the camouflage pattern has to line up across both fuselages, across the center section and across surfaces that are glued on only at a later stage of the build.
It is precisely the lining up that is the main pitfall with the Zwilling. It pays to lay the stencils out and try them dry to see where the pattern crosses a joint between parts, and to plan accordingly what to glue and sand before painting. Large areas also mean a great deal of masking material, so apply the stencils in sections and always check the pressure on the edge. On long straight stretches the paint creeps under most easily, because film lifts slightly on a large area.
The package contains masking stencils only. The model, the paints and the airbrush are not part of it.
