The real subject

The Heinkel He 219 was a twin-engine night fighter with a crew of two sitting in tandem. Unlike the older types, which were merely converted for night fighting, it was designed for the task from the start: it had a nose wheel, a good view forward and ejection seats, which at that time was an exception. The A-0 version is among the first completed machines of the series.

What the sheet contains

The sheet carries the markings of the machine listed under the code DV+DL. The extent of the motifs, their placing on the model and a color drawing of the camouflage are given in the enclosed instructions, which you should go by while building.

How it is applied

With ordinary sheets the wet method is used:

• spray the model with gloss clear and let it dry thoroughly
• cut the motif out with a narrow margin of the backing and soak it in lukewarm water for a few seconds
• once it has rested, slide the motif off the backing into place and guide it with a brush
• draw the water off from under the motif with a tissue and let it dry without touching it
• finally even the surface out with a matte or semi-gloss clear coat

Before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions whether it is not a self-adhesive standard. A soaked self-adhesive film is ruined, whereas an unsoaked waterslide decal can be soaked later.

Who it is for

The sheet will be appreciated by modelers who build German night fighters and want a particular machine instead of the decals from the box. The model, paints, clear coats and decal softener are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
