Rob Taurus 1:48 J2M3 Raiden is a vacuum-formed clear canopy for modelers who want to replace the production canopy on their model of the Japanese fighter with a thin, transparent part.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a standalone accessory, not a model of an aircraft. The set from the Czech maker Rob Taurus contains a vacuum-formed (heat-formed) clear canopy in 1:48 scale for the J2M3 Raiden fighter. It serves as a replacement for the plastic canopy from the base kit, being thinner, cleaner in shape and more transparent.
The J2M Raiden was a Japanese interceptor of the Second World War period, developed for a fast climb and for fighting bombers. It was notable for its robust construction and its powerful radial engine. The J2M3 version was among the most widely produced and carried heavy cannon armament.
Cut the part carefully out of its backing film with a sharp knife and sand the edges down. For maximum transparency it helps to dip it in a clear gloss varnish. Mask the frames with narrow masking tape. The thin material makes it possible to assemble the cockpit in either the open or the closed position.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The base model, the glue and the paints are not included in the package.
