A resin set from the Ukrainian manufacturer Reskit replaces the landing gear wheels on a model of the Jet Provost jet trainer in 1:48 scale. The designation type 1 distinguishes one of the two patterns of wheel that the manufacturer offers for this aircraft, because the machines of the individual versions differ in that detail. It is an aftermarket accessory, that is parts fitted in place of the parts from the kit; the model of the aircraft itself is not included in the package.

The real subject

The Jet Provost is a British two-seat jet trainer with side-by-side seats, which came about by reworking an older piston-engined trainer. It entered the training of the Royal Air Force in the 1950s and became the basic type for pilot training for several decades; several training versions gradually came about, differing in engine, equipment and, in the later form, in a pressurized cockpit as well. A combat-armed aircraft intended for export was also derived from the design. The landing gear was revised during the development of the type, so the wheels are not the same on all versions.

Usage and painting tips

Wash the parts in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent to remove the remains of the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the seating surface; protect your airways while sanding. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, that is super glue. The disc and the tire have a different shade, so paint them separately or help yourself out with masking at the boundary. The wheels go onto the model right at the end; a light application of pigment on the seating surface optically settles the model onto the surface of an airfield.
