A photo-etched set in 1:48 scale for the model of the Soviet KV-1 heavy tank in its 1942 production form, intended for the Hobby Boss kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Soviet KV-1 heavy tank was among the best armored machines on the battlefield at the start of the war. The 1942 form differs from the earlier batches in heavier turret armor and in a number of simplifications forced by wartime production. It is precisely the thin items, such as the fenders, grab handles, grilles and tool clamps, that make a model striking, and at the same time an injection-molded kit cannot render them in a matching thickness.
These are photo-etched parts, that is, items produced by etching from thin sheet. The thickness of such a part matches the scale far better than a plastic casting and the edges stay sharp. The set is intended for the Hobby Boss kit in 1:48 scale and is fitted to its plastic parts. Which parts are replaced on the model and in what order you proceed is described in the enclosed instructions. Some of the plastic parts are removed from the kit in the process, so read the instructions before you start building.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with nippers, so that they do not twist. Run the bends along the etched grooves, preferably in a bender or over the edge of a ruler. It is bonded with super glue; ordinary cement for polystyrene does not hold here. Degrease the parts before painting and apply a base coat, or the layer of paint will rub off during handling.
The set is meant for builders who are already ready to work with small parts and tweezers. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
