This is a set of decals, that is wet transfers, faithfully imitating the grain of light wood for models in 1:48 scale. It is neither a kit nor an aircraft part but a surface accessory meant to make the wooden areas of a model look realistic. The structure of the growth rings is drawn in 1:48 scale, so the density of the grain matches wood reduced to that size. The designation NO GRID means that the sheet holds no printed dividing grid; the artwork is continuous and you cut the individual panels out of it yourself as you need them.
This version is transparent, so it is applied onto a light base painted in advance. The shade of the resulting wood is controlled precisely by the color of the base: white, cream or pale yellow give tones of differing warmth and let you tell even the individual panels apart. That way you achieve a natural, unmonotonous look.
Smooth the base before applying and go over it with gloss varnish. Cut the shape of the panel out of the sheet with a small overlap (about 2 mm), settle the decal as you would an ordinary one and use a setting and softening solution so that it beds into the detail as well. Once dry, trim the overhanging edges with a very sharp blade. Finally, we recommend sealing the whole with a coat of varnish.
This is a modeling accessory (decals), not a kit. The paints, the varnish and the models are not included in the package.
