A set of cut masking templates from kabuki paper for a model of the Lockheed Vega 5B in 1:48 scale, in the BASIC variant.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Lockheed Vega was an American single-engine high-wing monoplane from the end of the 1920s, built with a monocoque wooden fuselage and with a wing without external struts. For its time it had exceptionally clean shapes, and so it suited long-distance flights. The 5B version wrote itself into the history of aviation: it was with a machine of this very type that Amelia Earhart flew the Atlantic alone in 1932.
These are cut masking templates from kabuki paper for 1:48 scale, in the variant designated BASIC. Kabuki paper is thin and self-adhesive and conforms well to curvature, so it holds even on a bulged cockpit canopy and leaves no adhesive on the surface after removal. The exact extent of the set, and the kit it is cut for, are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
They are stuck onto a clean and degreased surface before spraying, and the edges are pressed down with a stick or a toothpick, so that paint does not run under them. Apply the paint in several thin coats, because a heavy coat tends to form a ridge at the edge. Take the template off as soon as the coat is dry to the touch; tweezers and the tip of a sharp blade help when removing the small pieces.
The set saves time for anyone who dislikes cutting masks from tape, and it also helps less experienced modelers, because the sharp edges of a cockpit frame are hard to paint with a brush and a mistake is then difficult to correct. A model, paints and glue are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
