Masks from kabuki paper for a model of the Lockheed Vega 5B aircraft in 1:48 scale, in the EXPERT rendering. The extent of the masked areas is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Lockheed Vega 5B is an American single-engine high-wing monoplane from the end of the 1920s. Its fuselage was a wooden monocoque, the wing had no struts and at the front sat a radial engine, which for its time made it an exceptionally fast and cleanly resolved machine. The Vega became famous for long-distance flights: it was with this very type that Amelia Earhart flew the Atlantic alone in 1932.
Masks cut from kabuki paper for a model of the Vega 5B in 1:48 scale. Kabuki tape is thin and pliable, it can be led into curves as well, and after removal it usually leaves no adhesive residue on the surface. The designation EXPERT distinguishes the extent of the set within the range; which areas are covered at this level is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The surface has to be dry, clean and degreased. Lay the mask down with tweezers, press it along its whole perimeter and at curves lead it gradually, so that it does not ripple. Spray the paint in thin coats, otherwise it tears during removal and leaves a step. Take the masks off soon after the paint has dried and pull them at a low angle; on glazing you thereby limit the risk that the paint lifts with the tape.
Keep unused sheets in a closed bag away from heat and sun; paper tape otherwise dries out and sticks less well.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
