The masking set for the road wheels of the M26 Pershing in 1:48 scale covers the tire bands of the torsion bar suspension wheels, so a sharp edge is left after spraying. The set is cut for the Tamiya kits.

The set belongs among the accessories for painting. It holds no parts of the vehicle, only masks which cover the areas of the wheels with a different shade while spraying. In shape it is tied to the Tamiya kits.
The Pershing abandoned the bogie suspension of the earlier American types and rides on torsion bars. That means six separate road wheels on each side, evenly spaced and with no bogies to insert further structure between them. Each station carries a pair of wheels side by side, so from the side you see a continuous row of tire bands, with return rollers running above them. The drive sprocket is at the rear, the idler wheel at the front. In practice that means a great deal of repeating the same operation and a great many circular edges at the same height, so any irregularity in the width of a tire band is immediately legible from the side. The dual wheels also have a narrow gap between them that a brush reaches less easily than an airbrush.
Before you start, lay the masks on the parts on the sprue and check the diameter. Wash and degrease the wheels thoroughly, because with a larger number of identical parts it easily happens that one goes through untouched and a mask then will not hold on it. Apply a thin primer, so the shades behave the same on every wheel. Lay the chassis out so that you paint and unmask the wheels before the tracks go on. The moment the tracks are in place, the inner row of wheels is practically inaccessible and repairing one bled edge means taking things apart.
The package contains masks only. The kit, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
