The New Ware 1:48 DH.110 Sea Vixen FAW.2 EXPERT mask set is the most comprehensive step of the range for this type. It covers a wider range of parts than the basic version.
Responsibility details are not available.
The highest step of the mask range from the manufacturer New Ware in 1:48 scale. The set holds self-adhesive masks cut to the parts of the particular Trumpeter kit. The EXPERT designation means the widest extent in the range — the set deals not only with the glazing but also with the further areas that are masked during finishing.
The basic set makes sense when all you want is a clean cockpit. The highest step makes sense for a model you are finishing completely — with a color scheme, details set apart and weathering. The time saved tells above all where masking by hand would call for transferring a shape from one part to another while keeping the symmetry. With a twin-boom layout the symmetry of the two sides is especially easy to see, so machine-cut shapes are a practical safeguard here.
The commonest mistake is leaving the mask on the model for too long. The optimal moment is shortly after the paint has dried, when the layer is firm but the adhesive has not yet had time to strengthen its bond. Remove it slowly, pulling it back over itself at a sharp angle, not straight up. If the edge of the paint starts to lift, run the tip of a new scalpel along it so that the layer is parted. On the glazing, take the mask off only after the last gloss or matte clear coat, or you will draw a needless layer onto the glass.
This is a stand-alone mask set. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
