The higher of the two levels of the mask set offered for this carrier aircraft. The EXPERT designation concerns the scope, not the difficulty of the work: against the basic BASIC variant this set covers a wider range of areas and small details, so only a minimum of cutting is left to you during the build. It pays off when you are building an ambitious model and want the masking solved in a single package.
The Firefly Mk.I was a two-seat carrier aircraft of the Fleet Air Arm, powered by a Rolls-Royce Griffon engine. It served in the fighter and reconnaissance roles, had wings that folded for stowage aboard a carrier and the characteristic radiators in the wing root. The crew consisted of a pilot and an observer in separate glazed stations, one behind the other.
Lay the mask on a perfectly dry, degreased and dust-free surface. First spray a thin dusting coat, which seals the edge of the mask, and build the shade up only after that. A heavy coat of paint makes a ridge at the edge that stays visible once the mask is removed. Take the mask off as soon as the paint is dry to the touch, pulling at a shallow angle toward yourself rather than straight up. If the paint resists at the edge, run the tip of a scalpel along it dry to break the film of paint.
The set is tailored to one specific Trumpeter kit. It is not a model or a kit, and paints are not included in the package.
