A small deck set for a model of the British battleship HMS Vanguard in 1:450 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
An Artwox Model accessory for builders of a small model of the last British battleship. In 1:450 scale the whole model is only about half a meter long, and all the greater is the difference made by a surface with a fine grain of planks: engraving in plastic is always coarser than it should be at this size.
The Vanguard was completed only in 1946, that is after the fighting had ended, and she remained the last British ship of her kind. Her four twin turrets of 381 mm came from the older vessels Courageous and Glorious, which speeded her construction up considerably. In 1947 she carried the royal family on a voyage to South Africa, after which she served in a largely ceremonial role, and in 1960 she ended up in a yard to be broken up. She was built with the Pacific theater in mind, but the war ended before she could sail.
Handle the small pieces with tweezers only and prepare a surface on which a dropped part can be found. Do not shorten anything by eye; rather lay the shape in place and mark it. Choose very restrained weathering, as in this scale any shade that is too dark suppresses the grain of the planks. Hold every piece with tweezers before fitting it and compare its position against the sides of the hull.
