The New Ware 1:48 mask set Supermarine Spitfire F.22/24 and Mk.XVIe BASIC is a basic cut mask for the glazing of the model in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The basic set of self-adhesive cut masks for models of the late versions of the British fighter in 1:48 scale. It is neither a kit nor an accessory part — it is an aid for painting with which the frames of the glazing come out crisp and of the same thickness along their whole length. An extended version of the same set exists under the EXPERT designation.
The late versions of this airplane have a bubble canopy, that is a surface curved in two directions. A straight strip of tape cannot be applied to it without wrinkles, and cutting by hand directly on the part easily scratches the surface. The mask is therefore divided into segments that follow the individual panes of the frame, and it does not crease on the curve. It is exactly here that the saving of time compared with masking by hand is greatest.
Lay the segment in the middle of the pane and work it out from the center to the edges, so that no air is trapped underneath it. At the point of greatest curvature it helps to warm the film briefly with warm air, as it softens and seats better. Cover the remaining area of the glazing with masking tape or fluid. Before you start spraying the camouflage color, go over the edges of the mask with the interior shade — the frame will then be right from the inside and anything that gets through will not be visible.
The package contains masking film only. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery.
