A resin accessory with which the exhaust section of the engine nacelles is replaced on a model of the F-15 fighter in 1:48 scale. The nozzles are rendered in the open, spread position. The designation I in the name tells this set from the basic configuration, which the manufacturer has separately. The item is a detail part, not a model of an aircraft.
The cross-section of a variable nozzle changes with the setting of the engine, so spread petals on a model say something about the particular situation the aircraft is shown in. The spread position is usual on a machine standing on the ground and allows a look deep into the exhaust duct, which is exactly what a resin casting can do credibly and a plastic mold only with difficulty.
After washing free of mold release agent, cut the casting block off and even the surface up by sanding. Because the nozzle is open, spend time on the interior: paint it before you seat the set, and keep the transition between the lighter root and the darker edge smooth. Apply the metallic shades thinly, as a heavy coat fills the fine texture of the casting. Use super glue for the joint with the model, and on a larger mating surface the gel version serves, as it does not set before you have trued the nozzle onto its axis. Once dry, check that both nozzles project to the same extent, otherwise the asymmetry shows at once from behind.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and unassembled. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
