A standalone set of decals in 1:48 scale from the maker Two Bobs. It is not a model and not a kit — the sheet serves to mark a finished model of the two-seat Eagle in the equipment of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF). The sheet is the first part of a pair devoted to the same subject.
The F-15DJ is the two-seat version of the heavy air superiority fighter, delivered to the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and built in Japan under license. It serves to convert pilots and to train air combat. Some of these machines were taken over by a training aggressor unit, whose task is to act in the role of an opponent. So that the role is clear visually too, aggressor aircraft wear non-standard multi-color camouflage — from desert brown and sand combinations to blue-gray and dark patterns completed by prominent fuselage numbers. It is precisely these schemes that differ most from ordinary operational finishes and are popular with modelers.
With colorful camouflage the decals tend to be large and their carrier film reaches far from the print. It pays to trim the film with a sharp scalpel close to the motif, so that the transparent edges do not shine once it has dried. It also helps to trace the shape onto paper beforehand and try the seating as a dry run. On the edges of covers and at the air intakes, split the decal with a cut instead of bending it by force — two smaller parts seat better than one folded one. The surface underneath has to be gloss and perfectly dry, or moisture will be held under the film and the surface will go white.
This is a standalone decal sheet. The kit, paints, clear coats and decal softener are not included in the package.
