Markings for five Messerschmitt Bf 109F-4 machines of 1942, among them the aircraft of Hermann Graf, in 1:48.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-4 version was given a more powerful engine and a 20 mm cannon on the propeller axis, which made it the most effective form of the whole Friedrich series. The year 1942 is also the period when the record tallies of fighter aces were being made on the Eastern Front. The sheet fits that: all five subjects fall within a single year and four of them belong to pilots whose names appear repeatedly in the reports of the day.
The opening subject is the aircraft with the serial 7420, in which Hermann Graf of the 9th Staffel of JG 52 flew in May 1942 from the field strip at Rogan. Next comes the machine number 13073 of Sergeant Rudolf Müller of the 6th Staffel of JG 5, captured on the northern sector of the front in the summer of 1942. The third subject is the aircraft number 7629 of Lieutenant Frank Liesendahl of the fighter-bomber Staffel of JG 2. The remaining two variants belong to Major Heinz Bär: the machine of the I. Gruppe of JG 77 near Kerch of April 1942 and the aircraft number 13376, which in June 1942 flew between the Eastern Front and Sicily.
On the Friedrich the Staffel emblems tend to sit under the cockpit, where the surface of a model is undulated by panel joints. Let the decal soften in place for a while therefore, and only then press it home with a soft brush. The set holds decals only; the aircraft and the paints do not belong to it.
