1:48 MiG-25RBF BASIC (ICM)

The real subject

The MiG-25 is a Soviet twin-engine airplane intended for flight at great altitudes and high speeds, recognizable by its angular air intakes and its pair of vertical tails. The letters RB in the designation place the machine among the reconnaissance forms, which carry reconnaissance equipment instead of gun and missile armament. The RBF version is one of the later modifications of this branch. The model comes out sizeable and with long straight surfaces, on which every transition of color that is not crisp shows at first glance; accurate masking therefore makes a real difference here.

What the set contains

The set carries masking elements shaped to the parts of the ICM kit in 1:48 scale. For this airplane the range runs three steps side by side, BASIC, ADVANCED and EXPERT, and this item is the BASIC step. The exact extent of the step and where each piece belongs are given in the instructions enclosed with the set; go by them as you work.

Building and painting tips

The masks belong on the model before spraying. First wash and degrease the areas, or the elements will not adhere and the paint will get underneath them. Press the edges down carefully once they are laid on, especially where a mask follows a curve. Lay the paint on in several thin coats. Once it has dried, take the masks off with tweezers and lead them over the edge of the part, so that they do not tear the dried finish away with them.

Terms of supply

It is a supplementary set for a plastic kit, shaped for one particular model. Check before buying, therefore, that the kit you are building is the one the set fits. The model itself, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
