A boarding ladder for a model of the Mirage F.1 aircraft in 1:48 scale. An accessory for a model on a base and for a scene with the canopy open.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Dassault Mirage F.1 is a French supersonic fighter that differs conspicuously from the older machines of the Mirage family in the shape of its wing: instead of a delta it carries a swept wing mounted high on the fuselage. Its takeoff and landing behavior gained considerably from that and the aircraft stayed in service for several decades, with a number of foreign users besides the French Air Force.
The set brings a boarding ladder, that is the equipment hung on the side of the fuselage below the cockpit on the real aircraft so that the pilot can climb in. On a model it is a small thing that gives a scene scale and sense: an open canopy belongs with the ladder, and possibly a ground crew figure. The exact number of parts and how to assemble them are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest away carefully, so as not to damage the thin rungs. Before painting, wash the parts, degrease them and let them dry perfectly. A thin coat of base color works well, with the shade of the subject applied over it. The rungs and the handrails come into their own when you pick them out by dry-brushing. Before you glue the ladder on permanently, test dry how high it meets the edge of the cockpit and whether it stands upright. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts; cyanoacrylate glue holds reliably.
This is an accessory set. The aircraft model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
