The Tiny Tim rocket, the long version in 1:48 scale from Plusmodel: a resin miniature of the heavy American aircraft rocket of the end of the Second World War, an accessory to American aircraft and to dioramas.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin casting of the American Tiny Tim aircraft rocket in the long version, in 1:48 scale, from the production of the Czech manufacturer Plusmodel. It is an accessory of armament, not a model of an aircraft; the massive rocket will markedly set the stores of American machines apart as well as an airfield or carrier deck diorama.
Tiny Tim was the heaviest American unguided aircraft rocket of the Second World War. It came about in 1944 as a weapon against fortified targets, ships and bunkers that resisted the smaller 5 inch rockets. The body of 11.75 inch caliber (roughly 300 millimeters) carried a powerful warhead, and the rocket was launched from the stores stations of aircraft such as the F4U Corsair or the bomber and attack types of the US Navy. It saw action at the close of the war in the Pacific and appeared again in Korea. This casting represents the long version of the rocket.
Wash the resin casting free of the mold release agent, cut the casting block off and sand the mark down with protection for your airways; glue with cyanoacrylate glue. The real subjects as a rule carried an olive or gray finish with prominent stencil markings; fine drybrushing along the length of the body will bring the welds and the transitions out. The rocket will come out both under a wing and on a munitions trolley beside the deck personnel.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
