This resin wheel set from Reskit replaces the plastic wheels from the box on a model of the North American T-28 Trojan trainer. The name narrows the range down to the T-28A and T-28B configurations and designates the wheel type as naval, which is what sets this set apart from other variants in the same range. On a model the wheels are among the most closely watched details, because they stand right at the eye level of the viewer. A resin casting solves two typical shortcomings of plastic parts on them, namely a parting line running through the tire tread and a softly suggested hub.
The North American T-28 Trojan is an American piston-engined trainer of the turn of the 1940s and 1950s, which replaced the older trainers of the previous generation. It was built in several configurations differing in engine, propeller and equipment, with the naval versions modified for operation from aircraft carriers and for the rougher conditions of deck training. The type saw long service and many machines still fly today in private hands.
Before buying, check which version of the Trojan you are building, because the same range offers wheels for other subversions and for land operation. Separate the parts from the casting block with a saw, not with pliers, and level the contact surface with abrasive paper. Wash the set in lukewarm water with detergent, let it dry and apply a primer. Resin is glued with cyanoacrylate glue. When painting, first spray the tire shade over the whole wheel and only then deal with the hub, which can be masked with a circular mask or brushed in. Finally check that after the wheel change the model stands level and all three wheels touch the surface.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
