A resin accessory containing, by its name, two pieces of the ODAB-500PM bomb in 1:48 scale. It is a thermobaric aerial bomb of Soviet origin in the 500 kilogram weight class, which in modeling is used as an external store for ground attack aircraft and attack helicopters of Eastern design. The item is an accessory, not a kit of an aircraft.

What the accessory is for

External stores tend to be dealt with in a simplified way in kits and often are missing altogether, because manufacturers concentrate on the airframe. A separate resin set makes it possible to put together a particular weapons configuration and to add a type of bomb that is not in the base package. The fidelity of shape of a resin casting shows on bodies of rotational form above all at the transition between the body and the tail surfaces, where plastic parts tend to have a visible parting line.

Building and painting tips

First wash the mold release agent off the parts with lukewarm water and detergent. Cut the casting block off and sand the surface down; with bodies of rotational form it is a good idea to sand on abrasive paper laid flat, so that the axis stays straight. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue. Before gluing to a pylon, check whether your kit has the matching pylon at all, and if not add one from another set. Painting of aerial bombs is normally handled with a uniform base shade and a discreet emphasis of the welds and joints with a thin wash; exaggerated weathering on armament does not look believable.
