A colored photo-etched instrument panel in 1:48 scale for the cockpit of the late version of the North American P-51D. It is a finished detail accessory, not an aircraft model: the part is in fine metal etch, factory-painted and provided with faithful dials and instrument labels. It comes in a self-adhesive version, so it is placed straight into the pilot's compartment without any spraying or hand painting.
The North American P-51D was the most widespread version of the Mustang, with a bubble canopy giving an excellent view and with six machine guns. The late machines brought further small improvements. The Mustang with its Merlin engine became famous as a long-range escort fighter for Allied bombers.
Cut or sand the original instrument panel from the kit down flat, so that the photo-etched part seats. Peel the backing film off and press the panel into place; on larger parts a drop of cyanoacrylate glue helps. For maximum depth the dials can be dropped with clear resin or gloss varnish, which imitates the glass of the gauges. Work with the fine etch using tweezers and clean fingers.
This is a detail accessory for a cockpit, not a complete model. The base kit and paints are not included in the package.
