This is a photo-etched detail set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, not a model of an airplane. The set holds parts from thin brass sheet, as a rule partly printed in color, intended for the detailing of the cockpit interior of the P-51D Mustang fighter in 1:48 scale - the instrument panels, the side panels, the levers and other elements. It serves as an accessory for the plastic kit of that aircraft.
The North American P-51D Mustang was an American single-engine fighter aircraft of the period of the Second World War, powered by the licensed Rolls-Royce Merlin engine (the Packard V-1650). The D version was marked out by a bubble canopy and by the armament of machine guns in the wings; it was put into action above all to escort bombers over Europe as well as in the Pacific.
The photo-etched parts are separated with a sharp knife on a hard surface, bent over an edge or in a bending tool and glued best of all with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The parts printed in color are not over-coated with a covering paint, so that the print stays legible; a matte protective varnish is suitable at most. Before gluing it is good to degrease both the photo-etch and the plastic.
This is an accessory, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
