The most widespread face of the American escort

Of all the Mustangs it was the D version that was built in the greatest numbers and flew the farthest. The lowered spine and the teardrop glazing gave the pilot all-round vision, the wing machine guns got straightened bays and the jams that had plagued the older machines were removed by it. After the war these fighters flew for a long time with the National Guard and with foreign armed forces, so the choice of finishes on them is unusually wide.

The inside of the glazing is painted first

The set allows for both sides of the dome and there is a practical reason for that. The frames visible from the cockpit are sprayed before the canopy is joined to the fuselage, and the part is held meanwhile by a wooden stick pushed into a piece of adhesive putty pressed onto the outer surface. Your hand thus never touches the future window and the interior shade can be applied even at a greater angle so that it reaches into the corners of the frame.

Small parts without losses

The smallest pieces are lifted off the backing with the tip of a knife held at a flat angle, not with a vertical point. Tweezers take them by the edge, not by the adhesive side, and seat them on the glass with a single touch. Anyone who slides a part around will stretch its edge and the film then forms a ripple under which the paint runs.

What is in the bag

The package offers masks for both visible surfaces of the dome, national insignia and a decal sheet. The dimensions correspond to the parts from Tamiya. Plastic, filler and paints did not fit in here, because the set deals exclusively with preparing the surface before spraying. The bag can be stored flat and without bending.
