This is not a model and not a kit but a scenic accessory for a diorama. A paved surface is among the most rewarding bases, because it gives a scene scale and sets it in an urban or working setting at once. At the same time it is one of the most laborious elements when a modeler makes it himself, and a finished part therefore saves a considerable part of the work. The 1:48 scale matches the usual size of figures and vehicles in this range.
Paving comes to life only with toning. Apply a primer, then a base gray or brown-gray tone and shade the individual blocks irregularly, so that no two are the same. Sink a dark wash into the joints to draw the structure out, and once it is dry lighten the surface with a dry brush along the edges. Add dirt, mud and dust with pigments, working from the edges and from the places where they would naturally hold. In the most used places a worn path runs across the paving, which is lighter and smoother.
Paints, glue and other scenic materials are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
