A printed sheet with the grain of pine wood in a natural tone for 1:48 scale. It is applied as a wet decal to a smooth base.

On models of older aircraft wood is visible in many places: on the floor and the side panels of the cockpit, on the internal structure, on the bracing and on surfaces covered with plywood. Painting a faithful pattern of growth rings with a brush is tedious, and on two parts next to each other the result is hard to unify. A printed sheet shortens that work: the pattern is printed at a density matching 1:48 scale and comes out the same on every part.
The subject is pine wood, that is, a light pattern with a more marked difference between the summer and the winter growth and with distinct knots. The shade is held in a natural tone, with no shift toward red or toward the dark. The result is also influenced by what lies under the print, so choose a light and even base and try the shade on an offcut before you touch a finished part.
It is a wet decal. The area beneath it has to be smooth, clean and degreased; on a grainy surface the pattern breaks. Cut off a piece a little larger than you need, soak it in water, let it rest and draw it off the paper onto the moistened area. True up the position with a soft brush, blot the excess water away and let the joint dry undisturbed. Plan the direction of the grain in advance, so that the growth rings run along the part and not across it. Choose the softener and the final coat according to the manufacturer's instructions.
The model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
