Polikarpov I-16 UTI-4 — interior set 1:48 (Soviet aircraft) from the Czech manufacturer AML adds finely worked resin cockpits to the two-seat school version of the I-16 in the guise of Soviet trainer aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin detail set from the Czech manufacturer AML for the two-seat UTI-4 school version in the guise of Soviet trainer aircraft. It is not a stand-alone kit: the set replaces the simplified interior of the base model and turns both cockpits into the main draw of a finished display.
In the mid-1930s the Polikarpov I-16 fighter was among the best in the world, and for the Soviet Air Force it meant a leap into the era of fast monoplanes. That is exactly why the two-seat UTI-4 version was created: instructor and pupil sat one behind the other in open cockpits, and training units used it to convert pilots onto a type that forgave few mistakes. On a model both positions are clearly visible, so an investment in the interior pays off at once.
Two cockpits mean twice the detail work, so it pays to paint the parts while they are still on the casting blocks, then separate them and touch up only locally. Wash the mold release agent off the resin first and glue with cyanoacrylate glue. A drop of gloss varnish in the instrument faces brings the panels to life as an imitation of glass; tie the whole together with a light wash.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
