British night fighters — six-stub exhausts, part II (1:48) from the Czech manufacturer AML give the engine area of RAF night fighters the crisp detail injection-molded plastic cannot offer.
Responsibility details are not available.
The second part of the line of resin exhausts from the Czech manufacturer AML for British night fighters. Exhausts of the type with six separate stubs are among the most striking details of the engine area, and it is exactly here that the injection-molded kit parts tend to be at their weakest: solid, angular, without thin walls. Resin castings solve that shortcoming in a single step. The set is an accessory for a base kit.
The RAF night fighter force grew out of the need to meet German raids after dusk. On night aircraft the exhausts played a special role: the glowing flames of the exhaust gases gave away the position of the aircraft and dazzled the crew, so modified exhaust arrangements appeared on the night versions. Six-stub exhausts were used on aircraft with inline engines, which made up a substantial part of the British night fighter force.
You can carefully deepen the openings of the stubs with a small drill bit, as empty holes give the part real depth. Paint them in the shades of burnt metal: a dark metallic base, then rusty brown tones and a dry pigment. Glue the exhausts with cyanoacrylate glue only once the engine area has been painted.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
