1:48 Resin Turnbuckles Type B is a package of fifty resin turnbuckles for the bracing wires of biplane models in 1:48 scale from GasPatch models.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turnbuckle is a small end fitting with which the bracing wires between the wings and the fuselage were tensioned on real aircraft. On a model it is precisely this detail that tells an honestly rigged build from one where the wires merely run from point to point. The package contains fifty resin turnbuckles in 1:48 scale; the wire is threaded through them and the joint gains a realistic shape and bulk. It is not a kit but an accessory for a model under construction.
GasPatch models issue turnbuckles in several types that differ in the shape of the end fittings — besides types A, B and C there are also variants for the Albatros, a version with a single attachment and anchor points. This package contains type B. Different types suit different subjects and periods, so before buying, look at photographs of the real aircraft or at the build instructions.
Separate the turnbuckles carefully from the casting fret with a fresh blade on a hard surface and work over a tray — a small part is easily lost. Elastic thread of the EZ line type, thin monofilament or stretched sprue all work well as the wire; thread it through the hole, tension it and secure it with a small drop of super glue applied with a pin. They can be painted before or after installation, in dark steel or brass according to the subject. If you are still building the model, drill the holes for the wires before you glue the wings together — later you will no longer reach them.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Wires, glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
