A resin set of diorama accessories in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Plusmodel. It holds concrete roadblocks in the longer version, that is the barriers with which a traffic lane is closed in the field, a passage is narrowed or a checkpoint is protected. The set is not a model of a vehicle; it completes a scene that is already built.
Longer blocks are used where a continuous line is needed: along a roadway, as a separation of lanes, as protection of a perimeter or as a guardrail at a bridge. In a diorama they work splendidly in a pair with the short version from the same range, because alternating lengths read naturally and break up a repeating rhythm. The roadblocks suit modern equipment, city and airfield scenes and anywhere the controlled movement of vehicles is meant to be evident.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water, cut the casting blocks off and level the surfaces with a file. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Do not paint concrete in pure gray. A light gray to beige base looks best, with thin darker filters and spot patches layered into it, so that the individual blocks are not identical. Add dust and mud to the lower part with pigments, bring the edges out with a dry brush and, where the corners are knocked off, reveal the lighter core of the concrete. If you reach for worn strips from tires or for reflective elements, do them sparingly, so that the scene stays convincing.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
