An injection-molded plastic kit of the French reconnaissance biplane Salmson 2A2 in the late production configuration, 1:48 scale, from GasPatch Models. The model combines fine injection-molded plastic with a photo-etched sheet and resin parts and usually comes with a jig for aligning the wings. This variant matches the later series with their particular airframe details; check the exact package contents against the instructions. Paints and glue are not included in the package.
The Salmson 2A2 was a French two-seat reconnaissance biplane powered by a water-cooled Salmson radial engine. At the end of the First World War it was one of the most widespread reconnaissance machines of the French army and it was also used extensively by the American Expeditionary Forces. It stood out for its reliability and good handling. During production it went through a series of small changes that distinguish the early, middle and late series.
This is a finely detailed kit, so dry-fitting and careful bracing of the biplane pay off; the enclosed jig helps with the geometry of the wings. Glue the plastic with liquid cement for plastic and the resin and photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. We recommend an airbrush and a thin primer; finish the bracing wires in thread only after painting.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
