A photo-etched exhaust shroud with mesh and a silencer for the Sd.Kfz.232 in 1:48 scale is an accessory set for a plastic kit you have already bought, not a model in its own right. It replaces a coarsely molded plastic mesh with thin photo-etched sheet and refines the area around the exhaust silencer. The set is meant for the Tamiya kit.

An accessory set from the Czech maker Hauler for modelers who already have the Tamiya kit of the eight-wheeled armored car built or part built. The package consists of photo-etched sheet, out of which the parts of the exhaust shroud and the fine detail around the silencer are cut and bent. In itself it is neither a model nor a kit - without the base kit it cannot be built.
The Sd.Kfz.232 was a German heavy armored reconnaissance car with all eight wheels driven, derived from the Sd.Kfz.231 type and fitted with a powerful radio set with a conspicuous frame antenna above the hull. The car carried a 20 mm gun and a coaxial machine gun and served with the reconnaissance detachments of armored and motorized units. It was committed in Poland, in France, in North Africa and on the Eastern Front. On the real car the exhaust system was protected by a sheet-metal shroud with a meshed wall, which a plastic molding usually suggests by engraving alone.
Cut the parts off with a scalpel on a hard surface, not with nippers - otherwise the photo-etch deforms. Shape the mesh lightly to the shape of the plastic part before fitting it, and make the bends in a bender or between two razor blades. It is glued with super glue applied with a pin, so that the openings of the mesh do not fill in. The photo-etch has to be degreased and sprayed with a primer before painting, or the paint will not hold on the smooth metal. The exhaust and its shroud are a rewarding place for rusty shades and pigments - the contrast with the surrounding paint brings the whole side of the model to life.
This is an accessory set for a kit you have already bought. It is supplied unpainted; the base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
