A resin conversion set from the Czech maker Hauler for models of the German Sd.Kfz. 251 armored half-track. It makes it possible to build the engineer version designated 251/7, which carried short bridge sections, in German Sturmbrücke, on the sides of the hull. The product is an accessory for a plastic kit, which the modeler buys separately.
The Sd.Kfz. 251/7 version was meant for engineer units. Besides the ordinary equipment of the carrier, it carried a pair of short bridging frames on both sides of the hull, which could be put together into one longer crossing. They served to get over ditches, anti-tank obstacles and smaller watercourses, that is, to open a route quickly for an advancing column. The characteristic frames on the sides are at the same time the reason why this version is easy to recognize on a model and legible in a diorama even without a caption.
This is a conversion, not merely a refinement of detail. The bridge frames have to be seated symmetrically and at the correct height above the hull, because any deviation is visible on a model from the side at once. Before you reach for the glue, assemble the installation dry and check it from a distance from both sides. First wash the resin parts in warm water with detergent, so that the release agent from the mold disappears. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine-toothed saw, not with nippers; the thin frames are fragile. Sand wet or with a respirator. It is bonded with super glue; on larger contact areas an epoxy with a longer setting time helps, as it gives time to line things up. Apply a primer before painting, so that the resin and the plastic behave the same way.
This is a resin conversion set, not a kit of the vehicle. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
