Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory set from the Czech manufacturer AML in 1:48 scale; this is not a stand-alone model. Resin skis replace the wheeled landing gear on a kit of the Fiat G.50 second series, and the enclosed decal sheet supplies the matching markings. Few combinations sound more unusual at first hearing than an Italian fighter on snow skis, and that is exactly why this is a subject that raises questions in a display case.
The Fiat G.50 Freccia was a single-engine Italian fighter with a radial engine, one of the first Italian all-metal monoplanes. Besides the home air force it made a strong mark in Finland, where a group of aircraft was delivered; Finnish pilots flew them in harsh northern conditions, and ski landing gear was also tried on the aircraft for operation from snow-covered surfaces. The second series differed from the initial aircraft in a number of changes, among them the open cockpit that the pilots preferred.
Apply the decals on a gloss base, press the surplus water out with a soft cloth and use a decal softener; a flat coat evens the surface out only once everything has dried. Glue the skis with cyanoacrylate glue and align them parallel before the glue sets. A lightly weathered surface suits a winter aircraft, as light speckling and primer showing through on the edges suggests operation in the cold.
An accessory set; this is not a stand-alone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
