An accessory set for working up the armament of a model of the Spitfire Mk.I fighter in 1:48 scale. Intended for building into a part-built model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I is the first production version of the British fighter with which the RAF entered the Battle of Britain. The Mk.Ia standard carried eight 7.7 mm machine guns distributed in the wings; the later Mk.Ib standard received a pair of 20 mm cannons in place of some of them. It is precisely the armament and its surroundings that are among the places where a kit tends to be simplified, because these are small and detailed shapes.
This is an accessory set aimed at the armament of a model of the Spitfire Mk.I in 1:48 scale. The extent of the parts supplied and their placement are given in the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer. The parts are not polystyrene, so cement for plastic models does not hold on them; use cyanoacrylate glue applied in a small amount.
Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest away flat, so that the part seats in the wing without play. Try the fit dry first and only then glue, because once cyanoacrylate glue has set the part will no longer move. Before painting, wash and degrease the parts and apply an undercoat. It is practical to paint small parts before assembly and to fit them as the last step of the build.
The model of the aircraft, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise. The extent of the parts supplied is given in the manufacturer's description.
