An instrument panel for the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I 1:48 from Yahu Models is a finished color photo-etched panel for the cockpit. It is an aftermarket accessory, not a kit of the aircraft.

This part is not a model of an aircraft but an accessory that replaces the instrument panel supplied in the basic kit. Yahu Models supplies it as a photo-etched panel with the color already printed on at the factory: the dials, the lettering and the base are finished and the modeler only fits them into the cockpit. On an early Spitfire that tells, because at 1:48 scale the cockpit tends to be built with the canopy slid back, so the interior is clearly visible.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I was the first production version of the British fighter with the elliptical wing. It was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin V12, and the armament consisted of eight 7.7 mm machine guns spread across the wing. The machines of the first batch had a two-blade wooden propeller, and later a variable-pitch three-blade one was adopted. The Mk.I is the type associated with the period of the Battle of Britain in 1940. The instrument panel had a characteristic arrangement with the main group of flight instruments in the middle and the engine instruments at the sides; on later examples the layout gradually changed.
The part is cut out of the fret with photo-etch scissors or separated with a scalpel on a hard surface, with a pressing cut rather than by bending. Level the tabs with a diamond file once they are removed. For bonding use a drop of thin super glue applied with a pin; an excess of glue could fog the printing. The plastic panel from the kit is usually sanded flat first, otherwise the panel protrudes and the canopy will not seat. Finish painting the surroundings of the cockpit before you fit the panel, so that you do not have to mask it. For the effect of glazed instruments a drop of gloss acrylic clear coat is enough, not a clear product with an aggressive thinner.
This is an accessory for refining the interior. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
