Masks for the teardrop canopy of the late Spitfire, 1:48. The glass is covered on both sides and one national marking is enclosed. The cut follows the ICM kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Sixteen is among the late Spitfires with a cut-down decking and a teardrop canopy. That canopy is almost entirely transparent and the framing has shrunk to a narrow rim at the windscreen. For a modeler that means a twofold message: a splendid view of the interior and at the same time the impossibility of fogging anything in the cockpit.
Everything that is under the glass will be visible, including the seat, the levers and the side wall with the controls. And because the frame is so narrow, every inaccuracy in spraying it is recognized at once. A mask solved for the outer as well as the inner face gives the rim the same width from both sides, which on thin framing is the only way for it to look symmetrical.
One mask of the national marking is included. A sprayed marking has the advantage where the canopy is polished, because no extra layer stays on the surface.
The Mk XVI differs from similar versions in a powerplant of licensed production from the United States and was used mainly over northwestern Europe at the close of the war. Its low decking is to this day among the most popular forms of the whole family.
Teardrop canopies were formed by blowing, so they have a smooth surface without optical distortion. So that this advantage stays preserved, it is appropriate to remove the film before the finish cures completely and then to polish the area with a fine paste. On the reverse a careful wipe with a cotton bud usually suffices.
Die-cut for the kit of the ICM brand in this scale. The model, paints and glue are not included; this is a separate set of masks.
