An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet single-seat aerobatic aircraft Yakovlev Yak-18PM in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian maker Amodel. The kit contains plastic sprues and a decal sheet. It is a smaller, finely made short-run model; it is supplied unassembled and unpainted and calls for a somewhat more careful build.
The Yak-18PM was a special aerobatic version of the proven Yak-18 trainer. The single-seat machine with retractable landing gear served sport pilots and was used in competition aerobatics. It belongs to the large Yak-18 family, from which trainer and sport variants for the Eastern Bloc came.
Glue the plastic with a thin modeling cement and clean up the small parts carefully. With a short-run kit it pays to try the fit dry. The sport finishes of aerobatic machines tend to be colorful and glossy, so a gloss varnish and an airbrush for clean color transitions suit it; apply the decals over a smooth gloss base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
